How Fantasy Motocross Works

Fantasy motocross turns the outdoor AMA Motocross season into a season-long competition with your league. Before the season you draft real riders; each week their actual results earn your team points, and the standings show who is winning.

If you are looking for a fantasy moto league that fits an 11-round outdoor season, this is it. Want to play the stadium season too? Take a look at fantasy supercross, or play both on a single combined total in fantasy SMX.

Your Motocross Fantasy Roster

The roster is the same fixed shape used across all league types:

Because real AMA Motocross has no West and East coast split, both of your 250 riders are live candidates every week. Either, both or neither may race and score, depending on who lines up.

Any two teams in a league can share at most one 450 rider and one 250 rider. The draft and roster swaps enforce this automatically by hiding riders you cannot take.

Fantasy Motocross Scoring

Season length11 rounds, following the real motocross calendar.
Weekly team scoreThe sum of your top 3 scoring riders that week, out of the four on your roster.
Per-rider cap23 points per rider per week.
Team total capNone.
Weekly tiebreakerOne bonus point if your top 2 riders combine for exactly 46 points (the 450 winner plus the 250 winner). The tiebreaker uses your best 2 even though your score uses your best 3.
Season tiebreakerIf teams are still tied, the tie goes to whichever team scored more in round 11, then round 10, then round 9, and so on backward until it is broken.

For the complete explanation, read the league rules.

Fantasy Motocross FAQ

Is fantasy motocross free?

Yes. SMX Fantasy League is free to use, with no payment or purchase required to join a motocross league or compete all season.

How long is a fantasy motocross season?

A motocross league follows the real motocross season, which runs 11 rounds. Your league schedule, weekly results and standings follow the same 11-round calendar.

How does fantasy motocross scoring work?

Each week your team score is the sum of your top 3 scoring riders out of your four. Individual riders are capped at 23 points per week, and there is no cap on your team total.

Is there a West and East split in fantasy motocross?

No. Real AMA Motocross has no West and East regions, so both of your 250 riders are drawn from the single 250 class and could race and score any week.

What is the difference between fantasy motocross and fantasy SMX?

A motocross league scores only the motocross season. An SMX league is a year-long league that scores supercross first and then motocross, on one combined total.

Explore the Other League Types

Want to play the stadium season too? Fantasy supercross scores the supercross season, and fantasy SMX covers supercross and motocross in one year-long league. Compare all three in the rules.
